Plumber in Miramar, San Diego

Courtesy Plumbing’s office is in Miramar, in the Silverton Business Center at 7950 Silverton Avenue. Most people who live in Miramar actually live on the air station, and the rest of the area is a large business district of warehouses, offices and shops along Miramar Road. So this page is mainly a guide to the residential neighborhoods around us, and to what we do for the homes in them.

The Neighborhoods Around Miramar

Mira Mesa sits directly north of the air station. Its first big building boom ran from 1969 into 1972, and the homes from that wave tend to need the same repairs: aging gas piping, gate-valve shutoffs that no longer close, and clay or cast iron sewer laterals. Our Mira Mesa plumbing page goes through each one.

Scripps Ranch is where the Miramar name started. E.W. Scripps called his ranch house Miramar in the 1890s, and the name spread to the whole mesa. Today the community is split in two by the City’s planning maps. The southern part is covered on our Scripps Ranch page, and the part north of Miramar Reservoir, planned by the City in 1980, has its own Miramar Ranch North page.

Beyond these, our service area takes in Sorrento Valley, University City, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Rancho Penasquitos and a long list of other San Diego communities.

What We Handle

Most of our work is in people’s homes. That covers water heater repairs and full swaps for tank, tankless or heat pump units, along with gas lines, repipes, pressure regulators and shutoff valves. We also replace a wide range of fixtures, from kitchen faucets to shower valves, run new water and sewer lines, find leaks and dry out the damage they leave. Clogged drains are the exception: Drain Mob, a partner company, takes those jobs. We’re open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed on weekends.

How to Check Out Any Plumber Before They Start

Whoever you call, us or anyone else, a few minutes of checking can save you a lot of trouble. These come straight from the Contractors State License Board, the state agency that licenses contractors in California:

  • Look up the license number. Every contractor’s ads, business cards and trucks have to show a state license number. A number on a truck doesn’t prove the license is active, so check it on the CSLB website or by calling (800) 321-2752. Ours is #910268.
  • Ask to see the pocket license and a photo ID when someone shows up to bid on a job, and make sure the names match.
  • Make sure there’s a real business address. The license lookup shows each contractor’s address of record. A company working out of a pickup truck can be hard to find if something needs fixing after the last bill is paid.
  • Check workers’ compensation coverage. A contractor with employees is required to carry it, and the license record shows it. If an uninsured worker gets hurt on your property, you could end up paying.
  • Watch the down payment. On a home improvement contract, California limits the down payment to 10 percent of the price or $1,000, whichever is less, with a narrow exception for contractors who carry a special bond on file with the state.

Miramar Plumbing FAQ

Are Miramar, Mira Mesa and Miramar Ranch North the same place?

No, they’re three different areas that share a name. Miramar is the air station plus the business district around Miramar Road. Mira Mesa is the residential community directly north of the base. Miramar Ranch North is part of Scripps Ranch, north of Miramar Reservoir. We work on homes in Mira Mesa and across Scripps Ranch, including Miramar Ranch North.

How can I tell if a plumber’s price is fair?

For a bigger job, get written bids from more than one licensed contractor for exactly the same scope of work. The state licensing board warns that a bid far below the others usually means something was left out or a mistake was made. For a small repair, ask what the job will cost before the work starts.

Will you unclog a backed-up drain?

That one goes to Drain Mob, the partner we send all drain clearing to. The rest of the work on this page we handle ourselves.
